Learning To Have Fun and Play
I am entering into a journey where I am learning to experiment with foreign mediums and drawing things that I have never drawn before. This takes effort. Breaking out of the ‘I know what I am doing’ comfort zone takes a decision to try something new and to enjoy making a mess and getting my hands dirty. Loving and embracing the fact that it might not get finished, or even look that great. The questions are: is there emotion behind the stroke of a paint brush, is there a story being told, is there passion in the artistic expression?
Breaking down the fear of perfection and accuracy and enjoying the journey of a flowing paintbrush or quick lines made by a pencil. Having fun and letting go. Learning and making mistakes.
The drawing above is my first ever life drawing. I went to a class, learnt and drew. I didn’t finish it, but that doesn’t matter. After sometime, trying to get a finished piece wasn’t important any more, I learnt to relax after an hour and enjoy the flow of my pencil, learning new tips as I went along and taking my time to observe.
